Request your MicroBit board!
At the beginning of 2020 I worked with Plan Ceibal in the making of this audiovisual piece with the aim of stimulating the participation of kids and teenagers in Plan Ceibals’s learning program with the Microbit board. Plan Ceibal is an educational project that works together with the Uruguayan government to guarantee equal opportunities in access to technologies, mainly for students of public education.
They gave me complete freedom in the interpretation of the script and I carried out all the stages of production, working with a schedule of only 5 weeks to deliver the final piece. I really enjoyed the process of approaching the world of MicroBit and interpreting it aesthetically to generate enthusiasm in the target audience.
I tried to imagine the world of possibilities that appears from the first contact with the MicroBit. I created the illustrations based on the design of the board itself. I wanted to convey the feeling of manual work mixed with the virtuality of programming. To emphasize this idea, I mixed 2D animation in Photoshop with a “Stop Motion” style made in After Effects.
The only client’s request was to use their color palette.
